dc.description.abstract | Trajectory tracking in nonlinear batch processes is a class of problems where classical transfer function methods fundamentally break down, since no transfer function can represent the system over the entire trajectory. In this work, nonlinear control is proposed as a potential approach for these systems. A general nonlinear control algorithm is derived for systems of relative order one.The control of batch copolymerization reactors to obtain constant composition is an example which illustrates the use of this method.
