dc.description.abstract | The administration of 2,2-dimethyl [1-14C]octanoic acid to rats results in the urinary excretion of four 14C-labeled polar metabolites. Three of these have been identified as 2,2-dimethyladipic acid, 2,2-dimethyl-7-hydroxyoctanoic acid, and 2,2-dimethyl-7-ketooctanoic acid. The same products are also formed during the incubation of 2,2-dimethyloctanoate with rat-liver slices. These results suggest that either the initial oxidative attack is not specific for the co-position, or that [omega]- and [omega]-1-oxidation products are interconverted enzymically. | en_US |
