dc.description.abstractCondensation of tetra-O-acetyl-[alpha]--glucopyranosyl bromide with p-nitrophenyl 4,6-O-benzylidene-[beta]--glucopyranoside followed by appropriate deblocking reactions gives rise to an approximately equimolar mixture of p-nitrophenyl [beta]-sophoroside and p-nitrophenyl [beta]-laminarabioside. The two glycosides are readily separated and isolated in pure form by cellulose-column chromatography.en_US
