Rheumatoid serum depresses synovial fibroblast proliferation in vitro and tends to enhance the rate of hyaluronic acid formed per cellular unit. Quantitatively, the observed effects are not large, are apparently not disease specific, and not related to the titer of rheumatoid factor as measured by latex fixation. An improved method for measuring acid mucopolysaccharide in tissue culture medium is described.en_US
