Raman spectroscopy has been used to analyze the characteristics of the crystal–crystal phase transition of trans -1,4-polybutadiene. The low- and high-temperature structures were found to coexist at the transition. The Raman spectra obtained at high temperature can be understood on the basis of the change in chain conformation associated with the phase transition.en_US
