The polycondensation of dithioÖxamide with bifunctional aromatic bromomethyl ketones affords a series of poly-4,4′-diaryl-2,2′-bithiazoles. These polymers exhibit outstanding thermal stability. They are characteristically insoluble, infusible, highly crystalline, and of high molecular weight. Controlled structural variations within the polymer recurring unit allow for modifications of gross polymer properties. Structural characterization and thermal stability measurements are discussed.en_US
