Abstract
The aim of this work is to contribute toward the development of a monitoring system for cavitation damage prediction in hydraulic machinery particularly high performance centrifugal pumps. A high-frequency pressure-bar probe and digital acquisition and processing system have therefore been designed to measure the characteristics of damaging pressure pulses from cavitation in a venturi which simulates conditions in hydraulic machinery. Measurements were made of pressure pulse height spectra, which were used to develop a cavitation damage prediction method.Publisher
