Abstract
The purpose of the following experiment was to demonstrate the presence of a reservoir of protozoan species in the substrate representing possible invaders of an aquatic environment. A secondary experiment was conducted with the aim of roughly determining the capacity of the substrate to retain or regenerate species under conditions of considerable fluctuation in moisture content. The origin of the species found in the substrate samples was not under consideration, nor was their success in invading the nearest body of water.Subjects
