Abstract: An especially dense population of the crayfish, Orconectes virilis, exists in the Carp River from the Carp Lake dam to the M 31 bridge (T 38N R 4W S 15). The stream winds from east to west, then from north to south, and then east to west again, and under the bridge. The area mainly studied was the area from the dam to the point where the stream turns southward into a woods. On the north side of the stream, in this area, is a camper's resort and on the southside, a woods. The dense population of crayfish prompted many questions about the interactions and the general mode of existence of the animals. An attempt to explore a number of these questiosn was made in the present study.
