A comparative faunal study of two beachpools, Douglas Lake, Michigan.
Hohn, Martha
1972
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to initially familiarize the author with the invertebrate fauna of two beach pools located on Douglas Lake, Michigan, to compile a working checklist of these fauna, and to attempt to relate whatever differences might appear between the fauna in these pools to the very apparent ecological differences between the pools. The pools were chosen partly because of their proximity to UMBS, but more importantly because of the obvious ecological differences. One was a fairly deep open pool located on Sedge Point, along the north shore of the lake, which contains ample water year-round. The second, on East point at the east side of North Fishtail Bay, was a shallow-water, marshy area, which during some years dries up by mid-July.Subjects
