After a review of current evolutionary theory regarding nepotistic interactions in general and the parent/offspring relationship in particular, a model is developed for a possible parental strategy when more than one offspring is receiving care at the same time. The model is tested using observation of two species of passerines, Tree Swallows and American Redstarts. The results support the model but the sample size is too small and the observation time too short to prove conclusiveness.en_US
