dc.description.abstract | At the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS), there are numerous opportunities to conduct an interface study. The project described in this report examines the interface between UMBS wildland holdings, (approximately 4,000 has, of which a smaller study area has been selected) and the urban savanna environment (the built facilities of the UMBS) including roads, structures, utilities and other human disturbance). This report is presented in an informational manner, sutable to assist decision makers in understanding the character of the UMBS landscape. However, the report is not necessarily presented as a decision making document. Rather, it is an exploratory document of natural resource investigation that discusses selected topics and describes the outcomes of specific alternatives. The goal is not to present precise design/management solutions but rather to begin the process of comprehending the UMBS wildland/urban land interface. | en_US |
