History from cultures around the world tells of several, practical uses of plants. Plants of the genus Juncus are one such example. The peoples of the Orient once used the structures of these plants in construction of mats, since the roots and rhizomes were so durable and rugged. I recently made some observations on Juncus balticus in order to learn about the general rhizome structure of this historical plant.en_US
