dc.description.abstract | Two sites in northern Lake Huron were sampled from the research vessel, Laurentian. Physical, biological, and chemical data were collected to qualify the present trophic status of the area. The depth of the compensation point (17.4 m), the extent of water clarity with great depths (50 m), and the lack of diversity among organisms suggest oligotrophic conditions. Organisms indicative of clean water, such as Calanoida, Isopoda, and Bacillariophyta, were also present. Finally, the constant levels of dissolved oxygen and pH, as well as the low, constant levels of nutrients further lead to the conclusion that the area surveyed was oligotrophic. | en_US |
