dc.description.abstract | The objectives of our survey were to provide a basic understanding of attitudes towards the University of Michigan Biological Station from peoples located on Douglas Lake and in the town of Pellston. Three categories were developed in the survey to obtain this goal. The three categories are as follows: 1) Finding out the level of knowledge local residents have on the history and purpose of the Biological Station. If locals recognized the importance of the Station, then this level of knowledge would be reflected in their attitudes and beliefs throughout the survey. 2) Determining which activities locals have participated in on the Station property. And, 3) Our third objective seeks to find which, if any, activities the local residents would like to see offered at the Station. We belive that the results from the survey could establish a link between the three communities, and if possible, implement programs to improve relations between Douglas Lake, Pellston, and the University of Michigan Biological Station. | en_US |
