The purpose of this project is to determine historic and continuing effects of a suspected salt intrusion into Arnott Lake. This involves five investigations: -comparison of current chloride levels in the water column of Arnott Lake with those of Sherritt and Lancaster Lakes, two nearby lakes similar in morphometry to Arnott but believed to be on a different groundwater flow path. -comparison of current chloride levels in Arnott Lake with historic samples taken as parat of the RANN study in 1972-1975. -analysis of a core sample from Arnott Lake for changes in chloride levels in sediment over time. -analysis of a core sample from Arnott Lake for changes in diatom populations over time. -comparison of present zooplankton species with those noted during the RANN study in the 1970s.en_US
