The purpose of this experiment was to determine what role vision and olfaction play in predator detection by a minnow. We hypothesize that minnows will show a change in behavior when visually exposed to the rock bass. We predict that when a minnow sees the rock bass, it will swim rapidly and/or hide in an attempt to avoid the predator. We also predict that minnows will display a similar change in behavior when exposed to water in which rock bass have been acclimated and when exposed both visually and chemically to the rock bass.en_US
