dc.description.abstract The bluegill is a member of the sunfish family, Centrarchidae. From fossils records it is believed that the Mississippi Valley is the original location of the centrarchids. In this species report of the Lepomis machrochirus, information concerning habitat, morphology, behavior, and reproduction are used to determine the fundamental niche of this organism, thus allowing one to determine where the fish is expected to live. The information utilized was taken from class exercises and from literature which investigated the behavior and lifestyle of the bluegill. en_US
