Morphology and ecology of the Rock Bass, Ambloplites rupestris.

Abstract
The rock bass, Ambloplites rupestris, also sometimes referred to as the redeye or goggle eye, is a member of the centrarchidae family. Its name gives a brief introduction to this fish. Both the scientific name and the common name describe its preferred habitat. The common name, rock bass, and the scientific name rupestris, which is a Latin word meaning ""living among the rocks"", describe the characteristic rocky areas of lakes and streams which they inhabit. Ambloplites is a Greek work meaning ""blunt armature"", and was probably applied to this fish to describe the spines in its dorsal, pelvic, and anal fins, which serve as protective structures.Subjects
