dc.description.abstract | Responding to a suggestion by Dr. Witter, we undertook to plan an interpretive nature trail and corresponding brochure for Colonial Point. We identified our client to be Jim Teeri and met repeatedly with him to identify his visions and desires for the trail. We then integrated his input with our own ideas and impressions of user needs to establish a plan of action. We used the principles of trail design to solve the particular problems that Colonial Point presented us. The trail we created consists of three stacked loops; the first loop alone is 1.2 miles, the first and second loops together are 1.5 miles, and the three loops combined are 2.0 miles. There are fourteen points of interest along the three loops covering a range of topics from geology to ecology and natural history to cultural and human history. We created a management plan that will allow our ideas to be implemented and the trail to be maintained in the future. Our project is complete so that a team could easily follow our directions for placement and construction of the trail. | en_US |
