dc.description.abstract | The Lake Huron tansy population at Grass Bay Nature Preserve appears, superficially, to be in stable condition and well-dispersed within the dune habitat. The most severe endangerment probably comes from the possibility of genetic similarity between plants. Invasive species, especially the spotted knapweed, may also pose a competitive threat. Future studies at Grass Bay should include mapping the entire dune habitat, including the sand spit. Monitoring of associate species should be continued, especially for spotted knapweed. Mapping instruments should include transects, meter tapes and compasses. The GPS should be included if there is a GIS database available and especially if future GPS devices become accurate to within 1m. | en_US |
