Utricularia cornuta has a wide range in both its distribution and in the habitats that it occurs in. The flowering annual is found distributed from Newfoundland and Quebec to Minnesota and south to Delaware, Ohio, Illinois, and from North Carolina to Florida and Texas. It is primarily found occurring in wet calcareous places, like wet shores, interdunal hollows, marshes, fens, and it can be found in some bogs. Utricularia cornuta is just one of the many carnivorous members of the Lentibulariaceae family. Unlike the majority of individuals who are truly aquatic, Utricularia cornuta is just one of the few family members that resides in a more terrestrial environment by establishing itself in a soil substrate, rather than being suspended completely in a water medium. However, its ability to colonize and become established within such a wide array of habitats is possibly linked to both large and small bodies of water.en_US
