dc.description.abstract | The objective of my study was to gain an understanding of the algal flora present in ground water springs and seeps in Northern lower Michigan. I found that they were dominated by blue-greens and non-motile diatom genera including Achnanthidium lanceolata, and A. minutissima. Unfortunately during the study I discovered through water chemistry data that only two half of my sites were indicative of ground water springs. Also, the data on blue-green dominance is very likely inaccurate due to errors in estimation of biomass per cell between diatoms and blue-greens during counting procedure. | en_US |
