dc.description.abstract | Anemone canadensis is a member of the Ranunculaceae, or Buttercup family. The genus Anemone takes its name from the Greek word for wind, and thus plants of this genus are commonly called Windflowers. As is very often the case, this particular species has several common names, including Canada Anemone and Meadow Anemone. In this paper I will examine the morphological characteristics of Anemone canadensis and its natural history, including habitat and associated palnts in northern Michigan. Since in this area A. canadensis blooms from May-July, most plants had finished blooming and were setting fruit at the time of this project. However, I was fortunate to discover two indivdiuals, each with a single flower. My floral descriptions may be biased by the small number in my sample. | en_US |
