The effect of nutrient levels and light intensity on conjugation in Spirogyra: a field study.

Abstract
I attempted to induce the conjugatin of the most abundant Zygnemataceae genus, Spirogyra, in a field setting. I approximated nitrogen deprivation by depriving the algae of nutrients in general. In addition, I manipulated light intensity for the second portion of my experiment. I tested two null hypotheses: 1) Nutrient levels have no effect on Spirogyra conjugation and 2) light intensity has no effect on Spirogyra conjugation.Subjects
