The sonic velocity in subcooled liquid Refrigerant 12 (CCl2F2) was measured at 26.7 °C using an apparatus designed to investigate transients associated with pipe blowdown. The mean value for sonic velocity obtained from 65 measurements was 502 m/s. Sonic velocity obtained from other references are compared to the present measurements using the law of corresponding states.en_US
