Some discoveries in elementary particle physics are recounted from personal and historical perspective with particular reference to their interaction with particle accelerators. The particle examples chosen include the ψ/J, the Υ, and the study of nucleon constituents with inelastic electron scattering. Precursors experiments are cited together with the better known discoveries.en_US
