dc.descriptionThe Context Recording Database is a database of all context recording sheets completed for the Aphrodisias Regional Survey from 2006-2009. We used the context recording sheets to document and classify all ceramic and miscellaneous small finds collected during both the extensive site survey and the intensive transect survey. There are a total of 574 records. Extensive survey sites are identified by their ID number given in the Aphrodisias Site Database. Intensive survey transects are identified by transect survey unit number and, if they are associated with identified sites, by ID number and/or site name. Intensive transect survey site names are the site numbers given in Evelyn Adkins' catalogue in the "Intensive Transect Survey" article in the forthcoming volume Aphrodisias Regional Survey: Special Studies (for example, "Adkins 12" in the database indicates site number 12 in Adkins' catalogue). The final sheet in the database lacked any identifying information (ID number, site name, intensive transect number). The original recording sheets for subtransects SE58 and SE63 are missing and thus could not be recorded in the database.en_US
