dc.description.abstract | A student project was proposed to the Great Lakes and Great Rivers Section of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers for the collection of the maneuvering information from these operators. These data were to be analyzed and recommendations made concerning the accuracy of the data, the testing procedures, and the format of the charts. It was also hoped that this would be a first step toward obtaining a general description of the maneuvering characteristics of Great Lakes bulk carriers. This paper is a result of that project, which was partially successful in meeting the above goals. | en_US |
