dc.descriptionDescription: This isolated watchtower, approximately 6.5m along a side and set off-center within an enclosure wall approximately 20m by 30m, stands in the northern foothills of Avdan Dağı on the eastern side of the pass between the Morsynus valley and the plateau to the southwest. It provides an excellent view out over the valley, and from this point it is possible to see every other fortified site in the valley. It is one of two towers of similar construction in the area, and is located on the crest of a small hill just below the modern village of Ören. It is built from large worked coursed marble blocks; at least one block, probably in situ, appears to have a drafted corner. ** Only a very small number of sherds were found at the site, so no firm dating conclusions can be reached, but those few do suggest primarily a pre-Hellenistic or generally early occupation.en_US
