dc.description | Description: Well-preserved rock-cut gallery tomb, with petit appareil masonry dromos; almost entirely cleared; in a gently sloping field; no superstructure visible. The dromos (pres. L: 2.80m, pres. H: 1.75m, W: 0.80m) descends at a 21-degree slope. The sloping vault and the dromos walls for most of their height are built in petit appareil masonry. Starting 1.30 before the entrance to the tomb, the lowest part of the dromos is cut into dense clayey earth, reddish-orange in color and filled with small quartz and schist inclusions. Large marble blocks and a small fluted capital fill much of the dromos. The ceiling of the tomb chamber is approximately 2.10 m below field level. The main chamber is roughly T-shaped in plan and has an even ceiling height, rounded in the corners (cleared to max. 1.75 m below the ceiling). From the entrance to the N wall, the chamber measure 5.75 m by 2.55 m. The cross arm of the 'T' is flush with the entrance wall and measures 6.45 m by 2.50 m. Symmetrically arranged deep rectangular niches open off of the N and S walls of the cross arm and to the E, N, and W opposite the entrance. In total eight are seen, and all are of roughly similar dimensions, though none is entirely cleared (pres. H: 0.90 m, W: 0.60-0.70m, pres. D: 2.0 m). | en_US |
