dc.description | Description: Site of a monumental tomb; only the uppermost parts of the substructure are visible above the surface, and the chamber cannot be entered. Not built from petit appareil, but rather from ashlar. Each arch of the vault is made of three large marble blocks, with rough anathyrosis at the joints; this example of ashlar vault construction is unique among the tombs at Aphrodisias. The preserved length of vault is 2.33 m, and it is located toward the center of a mound of smaller stones (L: 4.50 m, W: 4.0 m), which may suggest the approximate size of the original monument. | en_US |
