Local Name: Aphrodisias, North Necropolisen_US
Local Informant: Halil Yoruk, Mayor of Ataköyen_US
Local Information: It was in a field earlier sold by Ekrem Celik. Known as "uc katli mezar" by the locals. It was looted in late 60's or early 70's, and supposedly a big treasury was found. The tomb is in a locality called Karşıyaka, on Ekrem's field. Recep Topal, an excavation worker from Ataköy, took us there.en_US

Description: The tomb was cleared by Kenan Erim in 1973. In June 2005, the opening of the dromos was level with rest of field. Stairs, then earth, sloped down to a doorway with a massive lintel and jambs surmounted by a barrel vault. All walls are built of mortared petit appareil masonry. In the barrel vaulted antechamber, there are broad niches in the north and south walls, one contains most of a sarcophagus chest and the other a lid. The main chamber is vaulted on the same axis. and there is a niche in each side wall. Fourteen built cists (average L: 2.05 m, W: 0.70 m) share party walls and are arranged perpendicular to the tomb walls, six along the east wall, and four each along the north and south walls. The central corridor between the cists is 0.80 wide and 3.60 m long. There are three small niches in the main chamber, one each in the three walls. ** By June 2007, the field had been regraded and planted with baby olives; the tomb entrance is no longer visible and the tomb no longer accessible.en_US
