| dc.description | Description: Chamber. The chamber is partially built (on its east, south, and west sides) and partially cut out of the native schist rock (on its north side). The walls and ceiling are built entirely of schist blocks (some of which run the full length of the walls). Only the upper three essentially isodomic courses of the walls are fully exposed (H of courses from bottom to top: 0.45 m, 0.47 m, 0.42 m). As exposed in robber's trenches, the walls are 0.04 m to 0.05 m thick. In the northwest corner, a schist slab (p. Th: 0.08 m; p. W: 0.43 m) projecting from beneath the lowest fully exposed course (third from the top) is all that remains of a funerary couch running along the back wall. The course on which the couch rests is probably the bottom course of the walls, and it is presumably equal in height with or slightly higher than the other courses. The doorway to the chamber is centered on the front wall, and thus it is unlikely that there were couches on the side walls. The lintel of the doorway to the chamber is a monolithic block. On the east, it rests on a shelf cut in the bedrock; on the west, it is bonded in with the side wall of the chamber, which is roofed by three schist ceiling slabs (W from back to front: 1.02 m, 0.76 m, 0.68 m). ** Antechamber. The side walls of the antechamber were built up against the front wall of the chamber out of the same megalithic schist masonry. A reveal on the face of the lintel (W: 1.02 m) was presumably cut to receive a doorplug, of which no trace was found. | en_US |
