Description: Base fragment of an inscribed columnar sarcophagus preserving more than half the width and a small part of the wall on the left short side. Found with another columnar sarcophagus fragment, C080. Lots of mortar found around edges. Large architectural block is nearby. ** Front and short sides each have two bands of bevel molding above one fascia. On the front, remains of one column base and the feet of two figures are preserved. Figure to the right of the column base is apparently female, preserving the bottom edge of a long chiton and feet, roughly finished. Figure on left preserves only the inside edges of feet. Short side is finished with claw chisel, no decoration preserved. Six lines of inscription are on the lower molding, discussing rights to bury in the sarcophagus and the penalties for tomb violation. ** Point added to system 16 June 2008
