Many other molded blocks and perhaps another part of the sarcophagus also visible in the field wall. The inscription on the two bosses of the lid read "he/she is alive," referring to the sarcophagus owner. The inscription on the chest forbids additional burials or removal of bodies within the sarcophagus, and threatens to impose a fine of 6,000 denarii for the purpose of erecting statues in honor of the emperors (RS Inscriptions 9). ** Sarcophagus Chest. Three fragments of an inscribed garland sarcophagus chest. ** (1.) Fragment from lower front panel, broken on sides and top. ** Preserves laurel-leaf molding along the bottom, the curling end ** of a ribbon, a small part of a grape cluster, and three lines of inscription. ** (2.) Fragment from lower front panel. Broken on sides and top. ** Preserves a small part of laurel leaf molding and three lines of inscription. ** (3.) Fragment from top corner. Broken on sides and bottom. ** Preserves part of the upper lip and an unfinished rectangular motif on the corner above the head of a human figure, probably a Nike with a ribbon tied above her head. To the left, the top of a palm frond or wing. Features highly abraded. ** Sarcophagus Lid. Three fragments from a lid decorated with pan and cover tile moldings and three bands of cornice molding. ** (1.) Fragment from the front left of the sarcophagus lid. ** Fragment from left front side of lid preserving one cover tile and antefix on the roof. Three lines of inscription on lid molding, one large line of inscription on boss. ** (2.) Fragment from the front of the sarcophagus lid. ** Fragment from the right front side of the lid; preserves one inscribed boss and antefix molding. ** (3.) Portion of the sarcophagus roof with cover tile molding.
