dc.description | Description: A field wall contains a collection of late-style marble architectural blocks including: 4 double column fragments (2 gray marble, 2 white marble); 1 double column capital; 2 pedestal bases (narrow, cubic) ** 1 threshold block (with an extremely large post hole [Diam: 0.22m] made from a reused base molded block); 2 column shaft fragments (grey marble); 1 Column Base (with masons mark "Z" inscribed on bottom surface); 1 "parapet" block (grey marble, with hole near bottom, perhaps from basin of a water feature); 1 large base molded block (white marble); and 1 molded block. Field is scattered with a great deal of tile and pottery fragments, mostly TMW, but including one ARS and two LRU fragments. The designation "probable villa" comes from surface finds, including several terra cotta hypocausts and several fragmentary and intact marble floor tiles (mostly square, mostly white). | en_US |
dc.description | Finds: Grinding Stone (D074) also found among blocks in field wall ** Systematic pottery collection on 5/30/2008 | en_US |
