    Abstract

    Poverty has been a major problem in this country during the last several decades. More than 37 million people in the United States live in poverty. More than 37 million people in the U.S. live in poverty. Sheldon Danziger and Bob Schoeni, both with the U-M National Poverty Center, discuss national poverty figures to coincide with the Aug. 28 release of data by the U.S. Census Bureau.
