    Abstract

Glimpsing future forests by removing thousands of trees. Christopher Vogel of the U-M Biological Station discusses the Forest Accelerated Succession ExperimenT (FASET) by stem girdling all aspen and birch within a 39 ha area. The study will compare the test and control tree stands to better understand the effects of climate, species composition, and canopy structure on the forest carbon cycle.
