Canonical maps between semidirect products with applications to elasticity and superfluids
(Springer-Verlag, 1983-06)
It is shown that two canonical maps arising in the Poisson bracket formulations of elasticity and superfluids are particular instances of general canonical maps between duals of semidirect product Lie algebras.
Kinetics of gelation and universality
(IOP Publishing Ltd, 1983-07-11)
The exact solution (size distribution ck(t) and moments Mn(t)) of Smoluchowski's coagulation equation (S-model) and of a modified equation (F-model) with a coagulation rate Kij=ij for i- and j-clusters is obtained for ...
Mössbauer effect study of tight spin coupling in oxidized chloro‐5,10,15,20‐tetra(mesityl)porphyrinatoiron(III)
(The American Institute of Physics, 1983-08-01)
Mössbauer spectra of a polycrystalline form of oxidized chloro‐5,10,15,20‐tetra(mesityl)porphyrin‐ atoiron(III) [Fe(TMP)Cl], compound A, were recorded over a range of temperatures (4.2–195 K) and magnetic fields (0–6 T). ...
Natural convection boundary layers adjacent to pyrolyzing surfaces
(Elsevier, 1983-12)
The temperature, velocity, and concentration distributions were measured in boundary layers adjacent to heated vertical polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and wood (Southern Pine) surfaces, and next to a heated, vertical, ...
Free convection flow on a nonisothermal flat plate under nonuniform gravity
(Elsevier, 1983-04)
In this paper, we present results obtained by using a numerical procedure for the free convection flow along a rotating nonisothermal plate subject to a nonuniform gravity field. Several specific forms for the temperature ...
Soft breaking of N=4 supersymmetry
(Elsevier, 1983-05-26)
We consider the addition of soft breaking terms to the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills lagrangian. N=1 supersymmetric mass terms and mass terms of the form (A2-B2) do not give rise to any new divergence, which implies that ...
Semiconductor detector for the selective detection of atomic hydrogen
(The American Institute of Physics, 1983-09)
A semiconductor detector is described which responds to the atomic hydrogen in an atomic beam but is insensitive to molecular hydrogen. The hydrogen flux is measured through the change in conductivity of the semiconductor ...
Can galactic halos be made of baryons?
(Elsevier, 1983-06-23)
Several arguments are presented indicating that the apparently non-luminous matter forming massive halos of spiral galaxies is not baryonic. There are difficulties with a halo dominated by gas, snowballs, dust and rocks, ...
Hyperon decays and a limit on left‐right mixing
(The American Institute of Physics, 1983-09-20)
The locally supersymmetric geometrical hierarchy model
(Elsevier, 1983-10-27)
We examine the locally supersymmetric geometrical hierarchy model at energies below the unification mass, MGU. The superfield content, for which the theory has acceptable values of MGU and sin2[theta]w, is discussed. We ...
