The stigma surrounding domestic violence often leads victims to keep things swept under the rug and tucked away into corners, further perpetuating harmful cycles. Along with children's drawings, I believe that drawers are an important source of household information'a place where things are hidden, cherished, or casually tossed. In "Behind Closed Drawers", I take inspiration from both the nature of drawers and the coded languages found in children's artwork to tell the story of a child who uses their drawings in an attempt to understand and "fix" their home.
