Abstract
The Grapevine Point stand and Pine Point stand at UMBS differ considerably in structure and in species composition, two vegetation parameters known to influence habitat choice in migrant breeding birds. The stands are of similar age. The largest determinant of the current differences between the stands is likely soil moisture, followed by soil nutrient content, and finally by the availability of propagules for colonization in early secondary succession.Subjects
